Drug Testing For Field Service Jobs?

Today, I talked to a field inspector (independent contractor) who was on his way to a clinic for a drug test (paid for by the hiring firm) which was required by a field services company. This is the first I have heard of drug testing of independent contractors in the field services industry. Who is drug testing field service representatives?  Email richard@law.name  More and more firms are treating independent contractors like employees. The day will soon be here when state and federal governments will declare all inspectors to be employees.

States like Colorado and Washington are changing the laws on drugs.
