Draining a concrete or gunite pool is a fairly easy process. However, if you live in an area that is extremely wet or has recently experienced heavy rains, you may be better off hiring a professional to empty the pool since an empty concrete pool’s shell can actually begin to float on groundwater and pop out of the ground.

I’ve heard that pools could pop out of the ground like that but have never actually seen or heard of it happening. Thanks, Richard, for sharing that video clip. I have a healthy respect now for pool maintenance.
