December 17, 2013: A man was cuffed Monday in Greenport after police said he hopped a fence and trespassed on private property. According to Southold Town police (on Long Island, NY), the incident took place at 2:11 p.m. on Second Street. Police said a resident called after seeing a man dressed in a black, fur-trimmed coat jump over a neighbor’s fence and enter the backyard of the property. Next, the suspect walked to the back door of the house, checked to see if it was locked, which it was, and hopped back over the fence. The neighbor identified the suspect, police said, and the owner of the home where the trespassing occurred pressed charges. The man, a Greenport resident, 33, was charged with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, processed and released on bail for a later court date.

Inspectors are usually told that it is not trespassing. Does your vendor manager know the laws of trespass in your state or any other state? Do you know the laws of trespass in your state? If you are arrested and convicted, you will have a criminal record that will affect you for the rest of your life. It will show up on background checks. It will affect your credit score.
