Madoff Aides Convicted in $17.5 Billion Ponzi Trial After Decades Working for Firm
Five former aides to Bernard Madoff, who spent decades working for his firm, were found guilty of helping run the biggest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history, a $17.5 billion fraud exposed by the 2008 financial crisis.
The three men and two women, hired by Madoff with little or no financial experience, were convicted on all counts. The defendants failed to convince a federal jury in Manhattan they were ignorant of Madoff’s fraud while being part of the inner circle at his New York-based firm.
What you as a company employee need to understand is that if the boss is crooked … and you know he is crooked … you will be considered to be an accomplice and be liable to both criminal and civil prosecution. Your only choice is to contact law enforcement and turn in your crooked boss. Otherwise, your boss will go to prison and in order to get a lighter sentence, your boss will testify that you helped with the fraud. You will also go to prison.
Don’t be stupid … report your crooked boss to law enforcement. Don’t let the boss get you in trouble.
