Let’s talk about solid state drives (SSDs) and hard disk drives (HDDs).
Your business and personal computer data is very important. I talk to a lot of field service representatives who have experienced computer crashes and worst yet, they did not backup the data on their computer. They will often call me because SOFI designed their resume and now it is gone … lost in the computer crash. About 31% of computer users have lost all of their files due to events beyond their control.
Backups are important. The type of computer drive you use is also important. At SOFI, we continue to move to using more solid state drives (SSDs). SSDs are more durable than HDDs as they have no moving parts … no spinning disc. SSDs feature a non-mechanical design of NAND flash mounted on circuit boards and are shock resistant. Hard Drives consist of various moving parts making them susceptible to shock and damage. All of the SOFI Macintosh tower and laptop computers use SSDs. Our backup drives are SSDs. We even have backups to some of the backups and these are the older HHDs (hard disk drives). We also backup some more important files to the cloud.
The next time you replace a computer drive or a exterior drive, consider purchasing an SSD. Protect your important data. Upgrade to SSDs. Don’t let a computer crash wreck your life.
