Minion Or Independent Contractor Represenatative? Which Are You?

check-in-minionI loved the movie “Despicable Me 2“. A large popcorn was $8 … the profit ($1.50 each) from 5 mortgage drive-by inspections. The Internet has several definitions of a “minion”. “A minion is a follower devoted to serve his/her master relentlessly. A minion is a servile follower or subordinate of a person in power. A minion is a follower or underling of a powerful person, especially a servile or unimportant one.”

About 99% of all field service representatives are independent contractors. They are not employees. And, they are not minions. Some of the national field service firms want to treat you as a minion … a servile follower or subordinate. Don’t become a servant … a minion … of your customers. You provide a valuable service. You should expect to be paid a fair value for your service. You should be paid on time. You should be treated with respect. You should not be asked to perform unlawful actions that could land you in prison. Don’t become a “minion” for a field services firm. Always act as an independent contractor.
