There are a lot of smart people in the world. There are also a lot of stupid people in the world. It’s probably a half and half world … half smart … half stupid. Many of the stupid people could have been smart if they had a great mentor and grew in the right direction. You don’t have to be smart to be successful as long as you hang out with smart people … follow smart people … listen to what they say … learn from them. You are not born smart … you are not born stupid. You just need to learn how to move in the right direction. It helps to follow a mentor.
Everyone should have some mentors … mentors who are successful … mentors who make smart decisions. This is especially important in business. You want to have mentors that are not afraid to tell you the truth.
Yes, I have some mentors … some great mentors. My youngest mentor … who I follow … is Ben Banks. Ben is 18 years old. He has been trading stocks since he was 12 years old. I read his blog posts and I benefit from his blog posts. Ben grew his stock portfolio almost 40% in 2013. Many a hedge fund manager would love to have a 40% gain in a year.
