Don’t Cut Corners … It Will Hurt You In The Long Run

Beach at Indialantic, Florida.

The holidays have been great. I am on a barrier island in Florida  …   Indialantic, Florida. The weather has been great. I am looking back at 2013 and I am also looking forward into 2014. I expect to make more money in 2014 than I did in 2013 by working smarter and being more focused. I will spend more time in 2014 supporting my best customers and much less time supporting non-customers. I will make some 2014 resolutions and hopefully I will keep them. I expect 2014 to be a great year.

When you are growing your business, don’t cut corners and provide unprofessional work. You will get caught. Here in Indialantic, I saw a Waste Management (WM) truck picking up holiday trash at my condominium. The trash is sorted by glass, plastic, newspapers …. and placed in separate containers for recycling. The crew on WM truck number 309856 tossed all of the recyclables into the truck along with all of the regular trash. I reported this to the operations manager at WM and he said he would make sure that it would not happen again.

When you see field service inspectors or property preservation specialists cutting corners, report it. Field service company managers should not accept unprofessional work. Warnings should be provided for poor performance and field service representatives should be fired if they cannot clean up their act.
