Alice (not her real name and not shown in the above photo) was in her car and on her way to perform a rush low-fee mortgage inspection. A car ran a red light at an intersection and hit her. She was taken to a hospital in an ambulance. On the trip to the hospital she called her vendor manager and explained what had happened.
She called again while in the hospital and to say that she was better … that the hospital exam and x-rays showed only minor injuries … she was sore all over, but could get around. She said that she would be released later that day and would preform the RUSH inspection the next day … for sure.
She performed the RUSH inspection the next day as promised. She was not paid for the inspection because it was performed a day late. She quit the firm because they had no respect for her health and well being. They had no respect for the effort she put forth to keep them up to date and finish the job.
The mortgage segment … the home of low-fee inspections … has many stories like this where field service inspectors have been shown no respect. Work for the higher quality firms that pay the higher fees. Respect means valuing others.
