Get connected with the higher quality firms that pay the higher fees. Check out the National Field Service Directory. Avoid the mortgage segment … the home of low fee inspections and 99% of the fraud in the industry. Contact the firms and introduce yourself. Email them a great resume and make some follow-up telephone calls. Practice what you are going to say when you call. Keep your area small … buildup your volume by working for more field service firms and NOT covering larger service areas.
Do NOT work for other field service inspectors. When you work for another inspector, you are splitting your fee with that inspector … that means less money in your pocket. Working for another inspector increases the risk that you will not get paid for work performed. Avoid inspection jobs posted at Craig’s List and Yahoo Groups … the candy store for low fee inspections and fraud.
