Below is a video where passers-bye were offered a 10-ounce silver bar or a Hershey’s bar. Each taker looks at Mark Dice incredulously, then makes the obvious choice, the candy. Each of them gives him a smile. Each is pleased to walk away with the chocolate, but, likely as not, each will have consumed the bar before the day is out and the benefit of the freebie will be short-lived.
A 10-ounce silver bar is presently valued at about $140, the Hershey’s bar at about $2.
Would you rather perform a five-minute $3 mortgage inspection or a ten minute $50 commercial inspection? Many field service inspectors will take the $3 mortgage inspection without giving it any further thought … without asking any questions about which would be more valuable … chocolate or silver.
First of all I would not accept 50 for commercial inspection as by the time you actually do the field and prepare the report and send it in you have a whole lot of time and expense that 50 would not cover. Jim Blunt Upstate Inspections
Yes…..I read some of your articles stating field inspections are 15-25 and then you started talking about $3 inspections. For all of you out there…..why would you take a 500% reduction of pay. How in the heck could you pay your bills? I find that most people that attempt things like this and become self-employed have no business sense and take no time to estimate the cost of doing business. That is including all extra taxes paid by the self-employed, accounting expenses, invoicing time, travel time, advertising time, marketing time and figuring out what it costs per order to cover those costs. Commercial inspections would not be good at $50.00 either. The best thing the site owner can do is tell everyone to say “no” to any reduction….cost of living goes up every year and we don’t go down we go up! Americans are causing their own problems with reducing the middle class. Many times, such as in the reduction in pay is doing it! You are your own boss….you give them the rate not vice-versa.
