  1. We have lived in the same house for over 30 years so I have some perspective on changes. I have noticed that when people leave their cars on the side of the road instead of having them towed right away, these things are happening. They can’t afford a new one. (Who can, really, unless they are near wealthy?) They can’t afford to fix the car they have right away. The economy is going downhill.

We are in the oil patch. People who were making a lot of money in it are now complaining. Others say they should have saved the big money they were making a couple of years ago. I heard of two oilfield companies laying off last week. A month or so before that, another laid off. The oilfield keeps “promising” that it will pick up “next year”, “next month”, “soon”. Two local companies recently closed. Even with the new sales overseas, the oilfield is not picking up. There are still tanker trucks clogging our highways. The average person is not making money. The hotels and motels, the restaurants, are either laying off or complaining about the economy being dead.

I am glad that I am working in fields that stay alive when this happens.

  2. Recession- NEVER!! It’s just a “fundamental transformation” that we’re experiencing. Nothing to see here–Move along—
