Older Americans Are Retiring in Droves

More and more baby boomers begin the new year with nothing on their schedule but plans to golf, travel, and spend more time with the grandkids. Some are looking for a little bit of flexible part-time work … away from factory or office positions.

Bloomberg reports that the number of Americans aged 65 or older without a disability that aren’t in the labor force rose by 800,000 in the fourth quarter of 2016, marking the resumption of a long-standing trend: the exodus of their generation from the work force and into retirement. Some retirees will need a little bit of extra money.

  1. Richard, as a Republican, what are your positions regarding Mr. Ryans and Mr. Trumps desire cutting benefits for Medicare and Social Security? I also heard that they want to cut Military pensions, how would that effect you and others that gave service to America.

  3. Those cuts would affect all Americans, in time. The debt is at 20 trillion dollars. I have saved over the years and I am sure that I could survive a cut in Government benefits … the benefits that I have paid for (FICA) and that I have earned. I could sell my 120 ft yacht to Donald, but I would keep my island home in the Virgin Island chain. I am an Independent … as I could love the right Democrat or Republican.
