India is a very poor nation. Many of the people are living in poverty. The health care system is poor. At SOFI, we contribute every year to Smile Train and part of our contributions help the people of India. Outsourcing work from the US to India also helps India as it increases the revenue into India. Outsourcing is good for India. But, do not confuse greed with charity. Work outsourced to India is not charity work. Most of the work is outsourced to India because a firm does not want to hire US workers and pay higher U.S. wages. The work is outsourced to India so that firms can increase their profits … it’s all about making more profit … more earnings … more money. Perhaps, some of the large national mortgage field service firms that outsource work to India could take some of their huge profits and make some charitable donations to the many groups that support the people of India.
